Originally the hotel was a Georgian mansion house, which dates from 1830. It has a fine stone exterior. Internally many of the original features have been retained.

This area is small in size but elegantly furnished and adjacent to a large lounge area offering comfortable seating overlooking the lake.

Surrounded by wonderful gardens, this hotel is housed in a Victorian stately home at the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere and lies directly beside its private jetty. It is some 3 km to links to the public transport network.

This 3-storey hotel is housed in a building that dates back to 1870 and comprises a total of 106 rooms of which 5 are suites. Facilities include an inviting foyer with a reception desk, a cosy bar and a restaurant.

The Old England was fomally a georgian residence which is situated on the shores of Lake Windermere at Bowness Bay. This location not only gives the hotel the advantage of breathtaking views over windermere and the mountains beyond, but is easily accessible by public transport and is only 18 miles from the M6. The majority of our bedrooms enjoy spectacular views across Bowness Bay and are en-suite, with bath and shower, have television, tea and coffee making facilities and direct dial telephone. Our Vinand Restaurant offers comfort, style and due to popular request is non-smoking. Our chef prepares her own menus offering the very best English Fayre, which can be enjoyed at your leisure whilst taking in the beauty of the Lake District. There is private parking a short distance from the hotel and is free of charge to the hotels guests.
