The hotel is located in the centre of the town of Guadalupe beside the Santa Maria de Guadalupe monastery. The region is known as Las Villuercas- Ibores. The village can be accessed by car or bus from Madrid or Caceres (125 km away) and links to public transport can be found nearby. There are a number of bars and night life locations in the locality and Orellana Lake is some 50 km away. The Guadalupe River, the forest and the river are all just a short walk away. Ermita del Humilladero is only 4 km away, Montfrague is some 125 km away, and Trujillo is only 80 km away.

The hotel is housed in an old hospital that was intended for pilgrims in the 15th century. The parador takes its name of' Zurbaran' from the fact that the adjacent Guadalupe monastery preserves a collection of pictures by this famous artist. The impressive fortress-monastery of Guadalupe is a centre of pilgrimage in the region of Extremadura.
