Renovated in 2007, set within an area of tranquility, this historic building has been elegantly transformed to offer a relaxing and memorable stay, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. In the hotel's vicinity guests can marvel at sights including the Villa Torliana, which is among the more recent of the villas inhabited by the nobles of Rome and conserves to this day a particular fascination thanks to its strikingly original English country garden, one of the few such examples in Rome, and to the unexpected quantity of buildings and works of art scattered in the park. The Casina delle Civetti was the dwelling of Prince Giovanni Torlonia until 1938 and boasts a particular structure in the liberty style and takes its name from the presence of a stained glass window depicting 2 stylised birds among climbing ivy. It is one of the most interesting such examples from the first years of the last century. The Casino Nobile was the venue for balls for the Torliana household. A majestic edifice, it is further enriched by an impressive entrance of columns built to be seen by all passersby on the nearby Via Nomentana. The Porta Pia was made according to a design by Michelangelo and remains well known as the open breach through which the Bersaglieri troops entered Rome on 20th September 1870, an event which ended the temporal power of the Pope and unified Italy with Rome as its capital. The mausoleum of Santa Costanza is one of the architectural highlights of late antiquity and one of the first surviving examples of a Christian edifice with a circular structure. It retains an imposing and fascinating allure that made it a preferred venue for religious marriages among Roman couples. The St. Agnese Catacombs are linked to the death at an early age of Agnese, whose body was entombed in one of the first-level galleries of the catacombs and was among the most famous finds from the Christian period.
