The city´s zcalo is of interest. Located directly across from the waterfront, see its Victorian-era bandstand, benches, street lights, and two busts of Father Hidalgo and Benito Jurez. The square becomes quite lively in the evenings. Beyond the zcalo, the downtown area is beginning attract more visitors.
The recently remodeled malecn (seaside walkway) provides visitors a relaxed, peaceful setting for morning or afternoon walks. a new attraction is the city´s Museum of Archaeology and History. The facility displays the region´s history, plus a changing exposition of important Mexican painters.
