Visitors may wish to climb the carved rock stair steps to visit the various monasteries set high on the rocks, many dating back to the 15th century and some still inhabited today. It is located at the base of a footpath leading to Meteora and the rock formations. The village of Kastraki may be reached by foot in 5 minutes and the centre of Kalambaka lies 1 km away.
