Imagine waking up in a Florentine home of the sixteenth century: the colours and decor, then as now, speak of Tuscan, starting with the warm tones of mahogany, deep red terra-cotta floors to the banquet rooms with impossible high ceilings crowned by gleaming white, ornate baroque stucco work and vivid frescoes. The completely restored, sumptuous Astoria is a true gem of Florentine style filled with beautiful frescos, stunning antiques and only the finest furnishings and accessories. The palazzo is comprised of two buildings once belonging to the Arrighettis Family, one of the richest families of the 15th century and to Gerardo Gaddi, painter and a mosaicist whose works had been inspired by Cimabue. Other delightful surprises await you at the Hotel Astoria, where accommodations will suit the visitor who comes to Florence looking for a place to stay that reflects the citys artistic and culinary heritage in a magnificent historical setting. The Hotels restaurant opens out onto the garden, making it an especially pleasant place to have a typical Tuscan or international meal. And on the rooftop terrace you can enjoy a fantastic view that encompasses the all city: from the church of San Lorenzo to Palazzo Vecchio. Welcome to the heart of Florence.
The Boscolo Hotel Astoria, which is a stone's throw from Florence's cathedral and from the Santa Maria Novella train station, is a magnificent example of Florentine Baroque architecture. It was here, in the Gaddi and Arrighetti Palace, a Medieval edifice of great historic and architectonic importance, that John Milton wrote his masterpiece "Paradise Lost".
The hotel has 97 rooms, some of which have wonderful views over the cathedral. Guests will delight in the pastel colours, typical Florentine details, space and light in the rooms with their splendid decorations and city views. The terrace is a true open-air art gallery overlooking Giotto's belfry, the Palazzo Vecchio and the cathedral, images which are guaranteed to remain long after guests hav departed.
