The Royal Hotel Thurso

Situated in the heart of Thursos, this hotel is the perfect base for business trips as well as relaxing holidays or tours along Scotland's North Coast and the Scottish Highlands. The hotel is close to the local beach and shops, and Orkney is just a short ferry-crossing away, giving guests the ideal opportunity to visit the fascinating island. The hotel is around 20 minutes from the Castle of Mey, the former Highland residence of the Queen Mother and an estate still popular with Prince Charles.

The hotel maintains a warm and friendly atmosphere that makes it one of the most well-loved hotels in northern Scotland. It comprises a total of 103 rooms and an entrance area. Set in a traditional townhouse-style building, the hotel offers guests dinner in the adjacent restaurant, ""Orkney"", which serves up a wide range of freshly prepared dishes of the region. Guests are, of course, also invited to take the time to enjoy a fine glass of beer in the lounge bar.

All guest rooms are in excellent shape, and are tastefully appointed in traditional Scottish style. Conveniences such as a welcome tray, an en suite bathroom, a TV, a direct dial telephone, chargeable WiFi Internet access and tea and coffee-making facilities all come as standard.

Continental or Full Scottish Breakfast available in our 'Orkney Restaurant', which also serves our Table d'Hote Menu in the evenings. Bar Lunches are also available in the Royal Bar.

Driving the A9 signposted Thurso/Scrabster, you will arrive in Thurso at a set of Traffic Signals, continue forward over the Thurso Bridge until you come to the next set of Traffic Signals, taking the right hand lane the Royal Hotel is on your right hand side as you continue through the signals. Continue past the hotel building and take your first right sown the side of the hotel and right again at the Petrol Station. This will lead you into the hotel car park, where an extrance will bring you through the hotel to Reception.
