The Metropole

This historic hotel is situated at the tip of a fantastic mountain with views of the Cornish village of Padstow, one of the most enchanting fishing villages in the country, and one which is famed for its seafood. Here guests will discover a selection of shops, galleries, restaurants and bars. Padstow enjoys something of a maritime history, which may be learnt about in the local museum. Guests may sit back and watch the fishing boats return to the harbour and unload. The hotel is approximately 200 metres from the national lobster breeding grounds and links to the public transport network. The nearest sandy beach is about 10 minutes away. Plymouth airport is 75 km away, and it is 74 km from Penzance and about 13 km from the hotel.

This 5-storey hotel comprises a total of 50 rooms and houses an impressive building in a Victorian style. The hotel features a lobby, a reception, a lift, room service and a car park. Further facilities include a café, a bar, and an excellent restaurant, which has been awarded a rosette and serves up daily freshly-prepared dishes inspired by the sea (depending on the season).

All rooms comprise a small welcome gift, a private en suite bathroom, a hairdryer and central heating. In addition to a TV with foreign channels, a direct dial telephone and a radio, the rooms also include tea and coffee making facilities as well as a double bed.

Guests may choose to make use of the hotel swimming pool. Further leisure time options include taking long strolls or a bike or camel trail to Wadebridge.

It is possible to book bed and breakfast or a half-board stay. A breakfast is on offer to guests each morning; lunch and the evening meal can be chosen from a set menu.

On payment of an additional fee, dogs are permitted to stay at this hotel. The reception is not open round the clock, but there is a nighttime service. The whole hotel will be non smoking from the 1st July 2007.
