The hotel was built in 1696 and consists of a total of 13 rooms on 3 floors as well as a lobby area. The hotel has been fully renovated, in the traditional Scottish style and offers guests modern facilities in which a feeling of comfort and relaxation pervades. It is open all year round and, with its alpine-like surroundings, is especially popular in winter. Guests can enjoy a meal or drink on the terrace whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the Loch, or warm up by a traditional wood fire. The hotel offers fantastic views of Ben Lomond, Loch Lomond and the mountains in the north. The restaurant offers guests an impressive menu using fresh, local products, including traditional, Scottish cooking. Furthermore, the hotel features 2 bars, the Rob Tob and the Clansman. Both bars offer a large selection of malt whiskey and ale which guests may enjoy in true, highland surroundings.

The rooms are decorated to add feelings of comfort and relaxation, giving a traditional country house atmosphere. The facilities include rooms with an en suite bathroom with a shower or bath, or a private bathroom The majority of rooms command a view of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond.

This area features some of Scotland's most beautiful landscapes and is renowned amongst mountain-climbers and walkers. On special evenings the sun lounge plays host to a programme of Scottish entertainment.

It is possible to book a bed and breakfast stay.

To reach the hotel, take the B858 towards Drymen, and turn left onto the A811 Stirling Road. Once in Drymen, turn left into Balmaha Road on the B837, which will lead to Balmaha after around 6 km. The road then narrows for around 10 km. Watch for walkers, cyclists and on-coming traffic. Guests will find the hotel on the left-hand side, in the shadow of Ben Lomond.
