The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and atmospheric bars and eateries abound. The Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat are particularly worth visiting.
